🌿 Chikankari origin
Chikankari is believed to have been introduced to India by Mughal Empress Noor Jahan, wife of Emperor Jahangir, in the 16th century. Known for her refined taste in fashion and the arts, she brought Persian embroidery techniques with her, which were then adapted and evolved into what we now call Chikankari.
There’s also a popular legend that an unknown traveler taught this technique to a poor peasant in Lucknow as gratitude for quenching his thirst. The peasant then taught others, and it spread across the region.
